In 2022, the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix and USA National Phenology Network are launching a community science project called Desert Refuge to track monarchs and milkweeds in the state of Arizona. Monarchs travel through Arizona in the fall and spring, and some spend the winter here. Some breed and produce offspring during part of their time here, but the timing and contributing factors are not well understood. That's where you come in!
